The spirit of the "Land of Lincoln" is nowhere else so alive as it is in Springfield, one time home to old Honest Abe himself. The county was named for the Sangamon River, which runs through it. Prior to being elected President, Lincoln was instrumental in securing Springfield, the Sangamon County seat, as the state's capital. Springfield is a great place for families!

Macon County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. According to the 2010 United States Census, it had a population of 110,768.
